 Including a separate sitting area and a balcony, each oversized guest suite provides sweeping sea views. Two telephones (one cordless), bathrobes, a scale, a lighted makeup mirror, a towel hamper, and two padded balcony chairs exemplify the suites' luxurious details. The sitting area is sunken and contains a couch, a marble desk, an upholstered desk chair, and two other upholstered chairs. A marble bathroom contains a tub/shower combination and a large vanity/dressing area. All suites are offered in the European Plan (room accommodations only, no meals), provide one king bed or two double beds, and accommodate a maximum of four guests. Oceanfront Junior Suite - These suites measure a generous 560 square feet. Grand Club Junior Suite - Located on the 10th and 11th floors of this 12-story hotel, these suites are identical in size and furnishings to Oceanfront Junior Suites except they include more luxurious fabrics, a suit valet, and jumbo toiletries, and have sliding glass doors instead of curtains on their tub/showers. Grand Club guests enjoy access to the top-floor Grand Club Lounge and Canc?n's best view from an adjacent rooftop terrace. In the lounge, guests are served complimentary food and beverages five times daily: deluxe continental breakfast; hot and cold appetizers with beer and wine at noon; tea-time sweets and wine in the afternoon; hot and cold appetizers with cocktails in the evening; and beer, wine, drinks, and petit fours at night. The expansive lounge includes a television room furnished with overstuffed leather couches and a posh, executive-style meeting room with a large glass conference table. Grand Club guests also have complimentary use of the hotel's fitness center and complimentary e-mail privileges at the fifth-floor business center. Master Suite - Measuring a grand 860 square feet, each Master Suite has a huge bathroom that includes a two-person jetted tub and a two-person stall shower. In the wall between the jetted tub and the bedroom is an etched-glass window. Other details include a recessed bedroom ceiling and a marble archway leading to a dressing area containing a wraparound twin-sink vanity. These suites' balconies are unit-wide and furnished with two lounge chairs in addition to two sitting chairs and a table. Some Master Suite balconies are enormous terraces.

What to expect: The click of high heels and Italian loafers striding across the marble floor of the six-story atrium lobby is the sound of opulence. Off the lobby, a wide street-lamped corridor leads to raised gardens, restaurants, a pretty French caf?, and modern sculptures displayed in wall recesses. This stylishness and spaciousness, both indoors and outdoors, is what world-traveling, discriminating guests expect when they stay here. The "Grand" in the resort's name is no exaggeration. Amenity highlights: Located on the north side of Punta Canc?n and shielded from the open sea, the resort's 1,000-foot beach provides calm-water swimming in transparent turquoise water. Lots of thatched-roof palapas line the beach. Running parallel to the beach is a huge lagoon-style pool with raised levels on both ends cascading into a middle, lower level. The upper-level terraces contain children's pools, one with playground equipment. Stone bridges span the pool's narrow channels. Insider tip: Although it's officially off-limits to all but Grand Club guests, a polite request at the front desk?or a strategically placed gratuity?might permit a visit to the expansive rooftop terrace adjacent to the 12th-floor Grand Club Lounge. From the terrace, all of Canc?n Island can be seen.
