What to expect: La Paloma's huge lobby features eye-catching views of gorgeous scenery and intimate seating arrangements for conversation. Golf carts provide easy transport all over the resort, but strolling the winding footpaths puts guests in closer touch with their Sonoran desert surroundings. Paloma means "dove" in Spanish, and the dove motif is everywhere: on street signs, in the exterior wall lamp covers, the stained glass over the resort's front doors, in the wrought iron pieces at the entrance of the country club and Janos Restaurant. Amenity highlights: With 12 lighted tennis courts, three swimming pools, and an Elizabeth Arden? day spa, there's something for everyone here. The acclaimed 27-hole Jack Nicklaus golf course is an oasis of green against a backdrop of rugged mountains. The Slidewinder is the resort's 177-foot waterslide, and the Children's Lounge is open daily, offering child care for ages 6 months to 12 years.
